It is fitting that the first post to the Rice Basketball blog involves academic achievement. Rice had four basketball student-athletes named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Sophomores Connor Frizzelle, Lucas Kuipers and Nate Schwarze along with freshman Tamir Jackson were named to the honor roll. In addition to their academic success, all four Rice basketball honorees started at one point or another during the 2009-10 season.
Rice placed the highest number of student-athletes on the honor roll, producing a record 227 members.
